Extraction boon for the smaller recycler

A two-year project funded by the EU’s LIFE+ programme has culminated in a mobile unit for the extraction of various valuable precious, rare earth and base metals. Whether cathode ray tube (CRT) or LCD glass, lithium-ion batteries or printed circuit boards, the new solution developed by the HydroWEEE project is said to be capable of achieving extraction of, for example, copper, manganese, zinc, yttrium and indium at purity levels exceeding 95%.
