Volume of e-waste set to double

United Kingdom: The number of end-of-life electronic products will continue to grow at an extraordinary rate, claims the UK’s Pike Research Institute in its latest newsletter. The market is expected to double in size between 2010 and 2025, thus placing increasing pressure on industry players, governments and advocacy groups to find new ways to expand electronics recycling and reuse.

The institute expects the total tonnage of recycled and reused electronics to increase seven-fold over the next 15 years, surpassing the annual volume and weight of devices that become e-waste but still not stemming the tide of e-waste growth.
