HearO: Wimbledon balls make some noise

United Kingdom – With the Wimbledon craze now behind us, the tennis balls that raced past the net at more than 200 miles per hour could very well become part of your music collection. How? UK start-up HearO is creating Bluetooth speakers housed in limited-edition championship tennis balls.

‘A functional piece of tennis history and an icon of reuse where design meets British engineering and technology,’ that is how HearO describes its unique collection of speakers, all of which are assembled in the London workshop.

The upcycled tennis balls emblazoned with the Wimbledon logo deliver high-performance sound and is ready to pair with any media device in any location a the touch of a button; the Bluetooth device automatically connects with smart devices or computers.

The tennis ball speakers retail at £60 (US$ 78) and essentially represent ‘a new category of living sports memorabilia’. Combining functionality and sustainability is what makes the HearO much more than just another throw-away gadget.

HearO was realised thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
