WEEE Forum welcomes new members

Global – Three new members have joined the WEEE Forum, the European association of electrical and electronic waste take back systems: ANZRP (Australia and New Zealand), WEEE Electrocyclosis (Cyprus) and Úrvinnslusjóður (Iceland).

Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform (ANZRP) is the association’vs first non-European member. Through its programmes, and working collaboratively with their members, industry groups, all tiers of government and other interested stakeholders, ANZRP has driven sustained behavioural change in Australia for the last five years.

WEEE Electrocyclosis Cyprus is the only producer compliance system for WEEE in Cyprus, established on the initiative of local industry and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Today, its shareholders include 363 companies most of which are importers and retailers. Electrocyclosis’ operations started in 2009 and aims to collect up to 3 300 tonnes of e-scrap in 2017.

Úrvinnslusjóður, also known as Icelandic Recycling Fund, is involved in the organisation and financing, through a recycling fee, of e-scrap, on behalf of the electrical and electronic equipment sector. Úrvinnslusjóður complies with the Icelandic transposition of the Directive, which entered force in 2006, in the context of Iceland’s membership of the European Economic Area.
