Collection network boom for PV CYCLE

Europe – PV CYCLE, Europe’s only fully-operational collective take-back and recycling scheme for end-of-life photovoltaic (PV) modules, has announced an increase of more than 130% in its collection network since the beginning of its operations in 2010.

With collection points now numbering 205, the association provides its service to module owners in every EU-27 and EFTA country.

The significant expansion of collection points has been accompanied by a steep increase in new members. As of January 2012, the organisation can boast more than 240 members globally and represents around 90% of the European solar market.

Jan Clyncke, Managing Director of PV CYCLE, comments: ‘In the last month alone, our membership grew by seven new members.’ She sees the steady increase in membership as a clear sign of the success of the business model and the hands-on experience gained over the past 18 months.

The company expects that this summer’s EU directive concerning electrical and electronic products will add further to the growth of its membership.
