Growth ahead for multi-billion paper recycling sector

The worldwide paper recycling industry will be worth almost EUR 50 billion (US$ 55 billion) by 2025, according to market analysts.

The paper recycling sector already topped EUR 37.9 billion (US$ 42 billion) in 2016, and will see a ‘healthy’ growth rate of around 3.5% during the period 2019-2025. ‘Increasing concern towards environmental protection is the major factor driving the growth of the global waste paper recycling industry,’ says a new report published by by Global Reports Store.

The 120-page document shares a detailed update, shining a spotlight on the world’s 15 top paper recycling players. The analysis is complemented by 80 graphs and figures. The report underscores that industry growth is partly thanks to government regulations impacting raw materials supplies and prices of secondary materials vs. virgin fibres.

Also, increasing urbanisation in tandem with higher literacy rates in developing countries such as India and China have increased the demand for products like newsprint, packaging, and writing paper.

Other factors boosting industry growth are consumer preferences for paper packaging, a general call for less plastic consumption, as well as lower manufacturing costs.
