Sims acquires Dunn Brothers

Australia / United Kingdom – Sims Metal Management, the world’s largest listed recycling company, has acquired UK metals recycling business Dunn Brothers Ltd.

Ferrous and non-ferrous recycler Dunn operates nine collection and export facilities across the UK. The company’s main processing equipment, including a 4400 kW shredder, is located at its Birmingham headquarters. Dunn processes approximately 35,000 tonnes of scrap metal per month.

‘With Dunn, we now operate a shredder facility in the UK’s second-largest city, while extending our footprint into new, targeted, regional markets,’ Sims Group Chief Executive Daniel Dienst said in a statement.

Graham Davy, Chief Executive of Sims European Metals and Global Recycling Solutions, said the deal positioned Australi-based Sims as a national player in the UK, offering quality recycling alternatives to the business and post-consumer sectors. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
